Keep Your Child’s Mouth Healthy

Pediatric Dental Care

Maintaining proper oral health and hygiene is a life-long journey. At My Dental Club, we’re proud to be a resource for parents in Trinidad and Tobago looking to develop proper oral hygiene habits and healthy, strong smiles for their children. Whether you’re bringing in your infant or toddler in for their first appointment, or you have an older child or teenager in need of routine or restorative care, we feel honored that you would consider us for your family’s oral health needs.

What To Expect

At Your Child’s First Appointment

It is recommended that you bring your child in for their first dental appointment around their first birthday or as soon as their first tooth erupts; whichever comes first. If you are bringing in an infant or a young child, one of our dentists will inspect their gums and primary teeth to ensure their teeth are healthy and erupting properly.

If you have an older child who already has most or all of their permanent teeth, we will perform a cleaning and oral exam. X-rays may also be taken to get a better picture of your child’s oral health. During your child’s appointment, we’ll answer all of your questions and provide any information you need about your little one and their dental health.

The Importance Of Routine Visits

Finding a Dental Home

Bringing your child in for routine dental appointments from a very young age creates the best oral health outcomes and has a number of benefits:

  • Your child will become comfortable with the process of seeing the dentist, allowing them to develop a genuine relationship with the team at My Dental Club.
  • Our dentists will get to know your child’s unique oral health challenges and address them during each appointment.
  • Seeing your child every six months helps us track their oral health and development at regular intervals, and ensures that they get the right treatment at the right time.

Repairing Damaged Teeth

Stainless Steel Crowns

Stainless steel crowns are ideal for repairing baby (primary) teeth that have been damaged by oral injuries or affected by tooth decay. During the procedure, one of our dentists will clean your child’s tooth and remove any damage, then “cap” it with a crown to support its structure. These dental crowns are affordable, minimally-invasive, and ensure that your child’s tooth is preserved until it falls out naturally.

Restoring Infected Teeth

Pulpotomies

Pulpotomies are usually recommended to remove the source of an infected baby tooth and keep it intact until it falls out naturally. An infected tooth is a serious issue for your child’s oral health, even if the infection is in a baby tooth. If a primary tooth becomes infected and results in premature tooth loss, it can cause other problems for your child’s oral development once their permanent teeth erupt.

Preserving Your Child’s Smile

Space Maintainers

If a baby tooth is knocked-out in an accident or falls out due to decay, a space maintainer may be required to preserve your child’s dental health until their permanent tooth erupts. Space maintainers prevent surrounding teeth from shifting toward the empty socket where your child’s primary tooth used to be, ensuring that their adult tooth erupts properly. Call us right away if your child’s tooth was knocked-out or if they have been complaining of a persistent toothache. We will assess your child’s smile and offer honest advice about extractions and other restorative treatments like space maintainers.
