What’s The Difference?

Professional vs. Over-The-Counter Whitening

Lots of people try whitening their teeth at home with store-bought stuff, but there’s a big difference between that and what we do at My Dental Club. Our dentists give you super good results, sometimes in just one visit! We use special trays to keep your gums safe, and we’re careful about not using things that could hurt your teeth. Some things you buy in stores, like charcoal toothpaste, might actually damage your teeth. For the best whitening, come to us for personalized care!

Get Fast Results

In-Office Teeth Whitening

If you want quick results, choosing in-office teeth whitening is the way to go. With just one visit, your smile can be 5-10 shades whiter! It’s perfect if you need white teeth for a special event or just want faster results.

After your teeth are cleaned, our dentists use a strong whitening gel on your teeth. Then, a special light boosts the whitening power. They might do this a few times, depending on how sensitive your teeth are and how white you want them. It usually takes less than an hour, and you’ll walk out with a super bright smile!

Treatment On Your Terms

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

We can also create take-home teeth whitening trays for a more gentle, gradual treatment. If you choose this convenient option, our dentists will send you home with a custom-made whitening tray and professional-grade products that allow you to brighten your smile in the comfort of your own home. This is an ideal treatment for patients who want a more natural whitening process and who prefer not to spend time in the dentist’s chair.

Take-home whitening is also usually a bit cheaper than in-office whitening. Not only that, but it offers more subtle results since your teeth will become whiter over a period of several weeks, rather than a single appointment.

Smile With Confidence

The Benefits Of A Brighter Smile

  • Yellowing and staining are natural signs of aging, and a white smile will make you look younger and healthier.
  • You’ll feel more confident when you smile and laugh because you won’t need to worry about unsightly stains.
  • Teeth whitening is affordable, completely non-invasive, and offers spectacular results in a little as one appointment.

How Can I Maintain

My Whitened Smile

After getting your teeth whitened at My Dental Club, it’s important to keep them bright. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Brush Twice a Day: Brush for two minutes at least twice a day and floss once a day.
  2. Regular Check-ups: Visit My Dental Club every six months for a check-up and cleaning to remove stains and plaque.
  3. Quit Smoking or Using Oral Tobacco: Smoking can stain and yellow your teeth, so it’s a good time to think about quitting.
  4. Watch Staining Drinks: Cut down on drinks like cola, tea, coffee, and wine. If you do drink them, use a straw to prevent stains on your teeth.
  5. Use Whitening Products: Brush with a whitening toothpaste and use a whitening mouthwash with the ADA seal of approval, containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.
  6. Occasional Touch-ups: Consider touch-ups every 1-2 years to remove any new stains and keep your smile bright and beautiful.

Which Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Option

Is Right For Me?

When you get cosmetic teeth whitening, it might make your teeth a bit sensitive to hot and cold things. Most people only feel this for a few days after the treatment, and it’s not supposed to be super painful. If your teeth are usually sensitive, talk to the team at My Dental Club. They might use a lower level of whitener or plan several whitening appointments to make sure it doesn’t make your sensitivity worse. Reach out to us to know more and discuss what’s best for you.

What to Expect

Does  Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Cause Tooth Sensitivity?

Cosmetic Teeth whitening is a gentle, effective treatment that can lift years of dental stains and reveal a more vibrant, rejuvenated smile. Teeth whitening may be combined with restorative dentistry treatments to completely rejuvenate and restore the smile. Although teeth whitening is safe, it can leave some patients with a temporary increase in tooth sensitivity after treatment.

What Causes Tooth Sensitivity after Cosmetic Teeth Whitening?

Tooth sensitivity is a possible side effect after teeth whitening and is most often caused by the bleaching solution used to whiten teeth. This solution can remove minerals within the enamel and cause the teeth to become temporarily porous, exposing microtubules within the teeth.

These tubules, called dentinal tubules, are microscopic channels that lead from the surface of the teeth to the center of the teeth, where the dental nerves are housed. When dentinal tubules are exposed, dental sensitivity will increase. Minerals generally replenish on the teeth within a few days of teeth whitening, and once the minerals are restored, tooth sensitivity typically resolves.

The Symptoms of Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity after teeth whitening may be mild to moderate. While some patients may not experience any increase in tooth sensitivity after treatment. For most, tooth sensitivity is only felt when breathing cold air or eating hot or cold foods and drinks. Acidic, sugary foods can also trigger tooth sensitivity. Some of the most common symptoms of tooth sensitivity include:

  • Sudden shooting pain in the teeth that may extend down to the roots
  • Sudden tooth pain when the teeth are exposed to temperature fluctuations
  • Tooth pain when eating sweet, sour, or acidic foods

Alleviating Tooth Sensitivity after Cosmetic Teeth Whitening

In most cases, tooth sensitivity after teeth whitening is short-lived and will resolve within a few days after treatment. Although sensitivity will usually resolve on its own, there are steps you can take to help alleviate tooth sensitivity in the interim, such as:

  • Use sensitive formula toothpaste: Switch to sensitive formula toothpaste to help desensitize the teeth and reduce painful tooth sensitivity.
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush: Soft-bristled toothbrushes are gentler on the enamel than medium or hard-bristled brushes, allowing minerals to rebuild within the enamel.
  • Rinse and brush with fluoride-based products: Fluoride is an important mineral for dental health. Using fluoride-based mouthwash and toothpaste can help restore minerals to the teeth, closing dentinal tubules and reducing tooth sensitivity.
  • Avoid certain foods and drinks: Acidic, sweet, or sour foods can increase tooth sensitivity and should be avoided.
  • Stick to room temperature food and drinks: Stick to lukewarm or room temperature foods and drinks to prevent dental pain from tooth sensitivity.
